THE STORY
The down-to-earth, homegrown aesthetic has become ubiquitous with the cannabis market. But it can kinda be intimidating to folks who've yet to toke their first toke.
This visual system tackles two hurdles new users face: learning about the zillion of different strains put in front of them and stepping into a community that feels gated by knowledge.
THE GRADIENT
The core of this system is a bitonal gradient that carries three kinds of information: strain type, strain potency, and general strain effect.
STRAIN TYPE There are five common strains: sativa, sativa-dominant, hybrid, indica-dominant, and indica. The type of strain on a given label is indicated by the gradient's pair of colors. The active Sativa is associated with warmer hues while the calming Indica is cued by cooler blue and purple tones.
POTENCY The potency, or strength, of a strain is visualized by the size of the bars with the max height of a bar representing a "high potency" for an average strain.
EFFECT The effects of a strain can be approximated by looking at the ratio and potency of THC and CBD combined with the strain type.
